CoolGrandma.com is an in-house Braintank project that focuses on the continued development of an empowered virtual community for senior web users. The mission is to engage the aging online community in an enjoyable way - using leading edge technology, thought provoking topics, and a true interactive community where users direct the future growth of the site.
The manifestation of this idea - although still a work in progress - has propelled the site into user popularity with increasing numbers of visitors, and substantial media coverage. The site was featured on the front page of USA Today's Tech Section, ABC TV, NBC TV, Fox TV, The Wall Street Journal, and more. Braintank has worked with a wide range of organizations such as Liberty Medical, Retired.com, and others.
The site has many different features - including a large database of tutorials, articles, online (Open Directory Project) directory, eCards, discussion forums, chat rooms, and an eNewsletter. There are about 300,000 individuals on the email list, and the site is recieving approximately 1,500,000 visitors per year.
